Tilahun Gessesse and Mahmoud Ahmed are probably the best and most well known. The easiest way to find Ethiopian music outside of Ethiopia is a series of compilations called Ethiopiques released by a French label called Buda Musique. There are currently 27 volumes in the series, but in no way do you need all of them, nor do you need to get them in order; each volume focuses on a different genre\artist. You can find volumes in this series in the world music section at most record stores

I think he meant for it to sound like Ethiopian pop music from the 80s, in an interview he did not long before recording this song he said he's been listening to Ethiopian music a lot lately. I don't blame him, it's good stuff.

man i love this song. I've just come home from a night out, fists bloody from defending my mate after he was jumped by 3 guys, just smoked a spliff and listening to this track. The ultimate stress reliever. It's all good. Go Ariel Pink.
