Flash Mob Response to Westboro Baptist Church in West Virginia

When the hatemongers from Westboro Baptist Church announced they were coming to Charleston, W.Va., to do their usual 'God Hates Figs' bit (I decline to give them what they want - which is to use the media to propagate their own version of that line), Covenant House gathered a host of area folk for a flashy response. This is a video of a flash mob rehearsal in the Covenant House parking lot, set to a techno version of 'Country Roads.' Note the final long, continuous take, ending in the pigeons checking out what was going on down there on the lot. Bewt counter-protest sign at the following day's protest: 'God hates signs.' I don't know what god they believe in, but the god I believe in does not hate.

Y'know, I think a good counter-protest idea would be to have a bunch of people show up with big signs that read "God Is LOVE." It's a simple but powerful message. They can wave their 'hate' signs around all they want, but in the end, that truth prevails.

Has anyone done that yet?
