I appreciate our military very much, but parents whining about the politicians sending them off to war isn't helping anything. It's not like he was forced into the military.

WTF. What happened to the KY accent? I lived there in the late 70's and couldn't get a job cause I didn't have an accent. Often, I would hear 'go home yankee'. So, wtf happened to the accent again?

Usually it's a big to-do when ye ole faux Rev comes to this area. I have an entire laundry list of things I'd like to say to him. Honestly, I don't know that any war is 'necessary', but that could easily be debated by some too...the war in Iraq in particular...I believe we were all under false impressions about the start-up of this war. I've actually had the privilege of talking to some young, returning troops of this war. Their biggest complaint - "Why are we there?' - the $64K question.

'Our town' - the people who grew up in berea, who love berea, who relish in the thought that we live in a good, safe, no-frills town. Those are the people I am referring to. But it's hard for us, again, the life-long residents of Berea, to explain to outsiders time and time again why 'our town' is so liberal and for lack of a better term 'full of ridiculousness'.

Agreed Reverend Phelps is a piece of garbage. Let me know the next time he is in Berea and I'll do my best to be there to confront him.
If you think the Iraq war was the right thing to do, then I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

not everyone from berea is a tree-hugging liberal. no one likes war, however, incessant protesting in berea makes the rest of us berea residents look like fruits. once again, thank you liberals...you've made yet another mockery of our town.
