  • is that respiration? or just gas exchange

  • ventalation is the movement of gas in and out of the lungs... Respiration is Gas Exchange

  • i thought it was making ATP..krebs..glycolysis

  • nope, this is showing you how we breathe oxygen through our lungs to the blood( red blood cells). you're talking about energy production which is done in a totally different system.

  • Ventilation - Breathing in and out

Gas exchange - O2 into the blood CO2 out. (What this video is about).

Respiration - Gaining energy in form of ATP from glucose either with or without oxygen (aerobic, anaerobic)

  • This isn't respiration, this is Breathing!

  • thanks big help

  • this isnt respiration

  • this documentary frkn sux

  • @jaypags Respiration is the manner in which oxygen and glucose are metabolized into carbon dioxide, water and energy. What you depicted is gas exchange.

  • CO2 is as important in health function or more than Oxygen. CO2 is not a waste gas. Every cell in the body produces & uses CO2. See the work of Konstantin P. Buteyko MD. The Buteyko Breathing Educators Association is striving to create highly professional acceptable transparent set of standards for breathing educators and the health professions. See and listen to Youtube presentations including highly regarded Dr. Robert Cowie by putting in Barnett Weiss on the Youtube search window.

  • great video this explains alot of info about the respiratory system

  • This is NOT respiration!!! this is VENTILATION or GAS EXCHANGE or BREATHING. Respiration is the controlled relase of energy from glucose in the form of ATP. Rename it, you are just confusing people.

  • In my Anatomy class we are learned that

Respiration is considered as more than one thing.

Its not only making ATP into an energy source in muscles, it is also the gas exchange, and it is the expanding and collapse of the lungs.

:) there you go guys. now lets all stop fighting

  • External respiration:

exchange of O2 & CO2 between external environment & the cells of the body

efficient because alveoli and capillaries have very thin walls & are very abundant (your lungs have about 300 million alveoli with a total surface area of about 75 square meters)

Internal respiration - intracellular use of O2 to make ATP
