This University of Hawaii program brings together distinguished figures such as United Nations and government officials, humanitarian aid relief workers and peace-keeping operations experts in an exploration of the complex issues surrounding armed conflicts, peace-keeping operations and humanitarian relief as they relate to globalization. Some featured speakers include Michael Hoffman, director of the International Humanitarian Law and Policy for the American Red Cross, former military advisor to the United Nations Frank van Kappen, and University of Hawaii at Manoa political science professor Carolyn Stephenson.
