Miami, FL
It's a slick, hip tourist spot, but there's room for history and science geeks in Coconut Grove.

Notice there is no mention of West Coconut Grove. Just another way to show that black communities in Miami are misrepresented. O, and that gobbling up of the Grove that Miami did back in 1926 was against the will of the people living in the Grove. The elections were strategically held in the summer when many of the residents were on vacation.

@steelcityog true. i was born n raised here and i can't wait to get somewhere where the weather is cooler and the people are friendlier.. only thing that makes it bearable is that i work in a part of the grove where the people are friendly.

adding to what I said below, my Dad still lives there (he's 80) and I visit him once a year. He has been a Grove Local since the 1950's and still loves it (though maybe not as much as he used to). Bur he gets out and walks to bars and restaurants 3-4 days a week.

Ignore the comments from the racist, ignorant, and unhappy people. I lived in the Grove for several years in the 1990's and it was great. Sure, there is crime, but that is expected in any big city. The west grove (lower income area) wasn't terrible either. Most of the people were friendly even to a white boy like me. I still regard it as one of the best places I have ever lived for many reasons; climate, culture, and the food and drink.

Maybe you are just a racist pig who lives in the hood. If you have the cash to go to the nice places, and are not a White supremacist, it is a laid back wonderful place. I live in #52 Cloisters. Come by some time .

@Marta7350 Its okay really. The comments here are exaggerated. Coconut Grove is still one of the nicest places in Miami.

My grandparents lived there for years but moved before the mid 1980s. I never got to see their house as they sold it just after I was born, but I've seen pictures of it & their backyard & it seemed real nice. Sorry to hear about all the controversy concerning Coconut Grove now.
