  • Okay super genuises, the frame has to flex to go over rough terrain. It's not a commercial vehicle. ok? A little reading wouldn't hurt you folks.

  • they flex for a reason :P it helps keep wheels on the ground. These chassis are actually designed for a certain amount of frame flex. Check out unicats website. This is a bonified hardcore expedition vehicle.

  • the wheelbase is way too long to go anywhere

  • @bforce420 bona fide*

  • Of course many people prefer the many comforts of a full size RV other prefer to be a bit more adventurous and be more in touch with nature.I can vouch for this particular truck but Unimogs are very capable very often outperforming and outlasting your jeeps,Toyotas, land rovers and many other "4x4's" No wonder they are so hard and expensive to buy.Read people instruct yourselves.

  • I just love the narrow vision of so many people just because they see the world expedition they think you have to cross the amazon on a 4x4.There a many uses to this type of vehicle besides as a camping rig,And for those of you that think this will not make it outside US think again this idea in fact came from outside the US,in fact it has been used in many countries around the world by scientist, military , geologists etc...Now is an alternative to boring RV's and goes where RV's can't.

  • @36Schorsch Expedition= long journey or voyage undertaken for a specific purpose. This and other similar vehicles like the unimog are perfect for that purpose of course it has its limitations its not made for sled pulling or mud pits.Probably you thinking rather take my jeep,or land rover or whatever but this rig depending of configuration is capable of carrying people ,food, equipment and still provide more than adequate shelter while they do whatever is they doing.

  • ultimate expedition vehicle?? where?

    that truck for shure... NOT

  • There is engineered frame flex then there is a wet noodle. Blechh! Also it looks like it has the break over angle of a minivan with all that crap underneath. I don't know what International's deal is with their fuel tanks. Their class 8 rigs had stubby tanks instead of skinny ones that barely left any ground clearance too. Even with 4wd and the big tires there is barely any clearance for them. This is a very confused vehicle that offers not much value for what it costs.

Due to the fact that off road recovery vehicles in AZ are far more capable than this low slung belly scaper, I still say keep her in the US on relatively smooth gravel roads. When it gets high centered, it will be an easy recovery for a 6x6 wrecker. Great looking truck though and I am sure it would be a great camper; it's just no expedition vehicle one would want to trust in harsher environments. Hopefully it has locking diffs, but it really needs 2-4 more wheels.

Having grown up in the Northwest, raced bikes and buggies from Utah to Mexico for 10 years and even doing a two year stint at Fort Huachuca and two more at Sandia Labs, I am well familiar with the terrain in AZ.

Yes, the US is 40X the size of the UK but that does not make this truck any more capable of harsh conditions outside the US. With a low undercarriage and long wheelbase, adding skid plates to all of the low hangning equipment decrease clearance even further.

  • That guy was just at my house delivering oil
