You are right the homeowner was arrested and sent to jail. You can only use deadly force is your life is threaten. By stealing his car they were not threatening the homeowners life.

Links don't work for me... I'm not American, but I support Ron Paul. Hope get rid of the federal reserve.

Too many Americans prefer to be lied to and to be tazed to death than to have honest, decent people in charge…
Demcad a quick lookup on wikipedia would have told you your statement about California is incorrect. Just because we have some of the most oppressive gun laws in the country here doesnt mean we lack all common sense when dealing with life of death situations. See California Penal Code § 198.5

@limbosuave There's a good point, but it is not a true Castle Doctrine in that it fails to protect the homeowner from civil cases filed by a criminal. But that is just my opinion.
Moreover, if you read the Penal code, it states that an intruder must "unlawfully and forcibly enters"
If your door is unlocked, are you protected?

@DEMCAD "who unlawfully and forcibly enters or has unlawfully and
forcibly entered the residence and the person using the force knew or
had reason to believe that an unlawful and forcible entry occurred."
It sounds like a weak Castle Doctrine.

I don't have the castle doctrine cause I'm in CA. But I'm standing my ground, I wouldn't hesitate for one second to shoot someone if they make a forced entry into my house. Here's all I'd have to say, I shoot in self defense, I was scared for my life, he broke into my house. I thought he was going to kill me and my family. I would like to talk to a lawyer now. The End....

@nelsonboy707 And in liberal California, they would lock you up like a criminal.
LOL I'm kidding. Actually, I don't know.
