If you have to give a speech, whether it's to a a group of 5, 50 or 100 people, it doesn't matter. Being the center of attention is what's hard. When all eyes are on you it can be nerve wracking. But all you have to do is look at the door in the back of the room and pretend like it's your best friend, and talk to that "friend." It might sound crazy, but this works. Because when you pretend to be talking to one person you come acorss more natural and personable. And whatever you do, don't look too much at the people in the room. They could appear to be distracted or bored, but really aren't. And that could throw you off. Above all, be friendly and don't worry about flubbing. As long as you get your message across, that is all that matters.

  • kaotico--Listen to your teacher, and do what is comfortable for you. Whatever you think will make you sound the most natural, like you are talking to your best friend.

  • Good luck skatergun! Remember, pretend you are talking to your best friend. You will do great!

  • Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden had stage fright. He said he got used to perfoming live by looking at the back of the auditorium and not the crowd. He said in a large arena situation, he projects his voice high to get to that guy in the back row, while all the time visulaizing that the crowd isn't there.

  • your are fail. eye contact is a must.
