Here's what I don't understand: every actual religion raises money to give away copies of their scripture, stick copies in hotel room drawers, etc. Scientology holds strict copyright to all of LRH's stuff, and sues other non-dues-paying practitioners. So how do they maintain a tax-exempt status? Who would accept such copyright-paranoia in any logical definition of "religion"?

To use a little scientologese, I think they are trying to handle us with verbal tech, applying ARC(Affinity, Reality, and Communication). I think they hope to either convince us they are nice people (which some of them do seem to be) so that we will forget we're fighting an evil organization.
This is usually used on new recruits, and is sometimes referred to as "love bombing." I'm unaware of anywhere in L Ron's writings where he ever encouraged his followers to use this tech on enemies.

I hope he does wake up and leave the CoS. Other than his creepy stalking behavior, he talks a lot about wanting to help people. Someday I hope he realizes he can do that much better if he frees himself from Sea Org and Miscavige's monster.
