popular bar in Brookside is changing its dress code in an effort to keep it a safe place to visit.

KMBC's Jere Gish reported that the Brooksider Sports Bar and Grill could be considered a generational bar -- the kind of place where a father who has been going there for years brings his son along.

"The Brooksider is all about coming here and having a good time with your friends," Manager Danele Reynolds said. "It's a really cool place to come and have a good time."
But recently, the Brooksider has been having some trouble. In the last six months, police have been called to the bar 42 times. Usually it's a call from the bouncers who are throwing someone out of the bar.

Managers said they hope a new dress code will prevent future problems The new code is posted around the bar, and includes:

No baggy or saggy clothing
No bandanas or do-rags
Baseball hats are allowed, but no stickers or price tags can be showing
No men's tank tops, sleeveless shirts or white T-shirts
Untucked T-shirts cannot exceed arm's length
All necklaces must be tucked inside a shirt
No sports jerseys after 10 p.m.

"Basically it's for safety. For everybody that comes through that door," Reynolds said. "I want everybody to have a good and safe time. Bottom line."

"The idea is to come in here and have a great time, not to worry about yourself," Manager Larry Groce said.

"I thought it was pretty strange, everything we were reading about it," customer David Baltis said.

"I think it's fine. Rules are rules," customer David McClelland said.

"I just don't think of a bar having a dress code. I think it's a good deal," customer Ralph Hilton said.

Managers said they will suspend the no-jersey rule if a local team is playing a night game.
