  • I recall the days when the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour was a huge success on CBS. Each week he would open the show with, "Hello, My name is Glen Campbell"............then John would stand up in the audience and begin to pick this song on his banjo...after a few seconds, Glen would begin to sing. Glen got that show 1st as a summer replacement for the "Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour". Soon his show was more popular them Smothers, and he had a full time gig.

  • I love this song.

  • Personally, I thought the Smothers Brothers were dumb, but I really like the super talented Glen Campbell.

  • Through cupped hands

    'round the tin can

I pretend to hold you to my breast and find

That your waving from the back roads

by the rivers of my memory

    ever smiling

    ever gentle on my mind.

That lyric is a work of art, that is. Every lyricist only wishes to write something that good.

  • A truly great , classic American song written by John Hartford. This certainly isn't anywhere near the best version of it, however.

  • Love this!!

  • The lyrics to this song are pure poetry. Peace

  • Sound bad

  • It's great when a song reminds you of your first love and it puts a smile on your face...

  • Glen just shredded a line at the end there, wow!

  • Man what an awesome combination!

  • I love me some John Hartford as well as Glen Cambell! Great song and great video!
