High Time is well-remembered as Portland's first music-dance show for teenagers. Similar to Dick Clark's Bandstand, which was produced locally in Philadelphia, High Time premiered in Portland on the same day as ABC's American Bandstand, although the show had actually started a week earlier. Ed Gilbert was the original host of the show, but John Lewis was substituting as host by September, and he, in turn, was replaced in October 1957 by Gene Brendler, who remained with the show through the rest of its three-year run.

    No, unfortunately there's not.

What I would like to know is, where is Nikki Sullivan? This footage is from October 1957, two months before Nikki left the Crickets. Was he not able to make it to this TV appearance?

  • HOLY CRAP!!!!! Amazing post, never saw that clip of Buddy before either! Wow, it's so eerie but so heartwarming to see someone that's physically gone moving, talking, and in this case singing....R.I.P. Buddy!!!

  • I've also never seen this before. Without their instruments, they looked kinda confused (especially since backing vocals were overdubbed). Oh well, Buddy really came through with his singing, as always.
