ok i can explain it a little better.

1. step one is if you are using another emulator, cut and paste both the roms and the .sav file of the two games from the folder it was originally in to the save folder that comes with TGB Dual. Note that this will only work with gameboy and gameboy color games. Also, if you didn't already know, the .sav file comes from an in game save. This will not work with save states.

2. Step two is change one of the extensions of a .sav file to .sa2. I explain how this can be done in the video. The .sa2 file will be read by the second emulator screen.

3. Step 3 is configure the controls for both emulator screens. Go to options, then click on Keys. GB1 is the first emulator screen, and GB2 is the second emulator screen. Make sure that each screen is configured differently. In other words, both screens should not have the same controls.

4. Step four is open up TGB Dual, and load the first rom. Go to file, GB1 Open,. then choose the rom with the save file extension that you did not change. Then, load the rom with the .sa2 save file extension.

5. Step five is go to the pokemon center, then you act as though you were playing a gameboy with a link cable in real life. With both controls configured, you should be able to control each screen separately.

Inspiration to make this video comes from Slowflake, whose video originally taught me how to trade using emulators. If you are having trouble either following the instructions in the video, or the description, check out his video and that might help you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNWbu65oWIc

  • How come mine always says new game?

  • @shoelacejcru Try loading each game one at a time instead of simultaneously.

  • So just to be clear, Pokemon Emerald is a Gameboy Advance game so it won't work withe the TGB Dual emulator?

  • @leblaze5 That is correct. If you want to trade with generation 3 games you should look into VBA Link.

  • Stupid question , but do you need 2 games ?

  • @sammieboy714 No you can actually make a copy of one ROM and run it on the GB2. Using another ROM is optional. By the way, that wasn't a stupid question. "How can my feet smell if they don't have a nose" is a stupid question haha.

  • @mastersquirrel3 I dont know what to tell you.. I tried every possible way and that was the only way it worked and it worked for many others. Try again and make sure you are renaming them from VBA's export option. Manually renaming the saves wont work for most ppl.

  • @ramiq27

The second Save is still not working!

  • @teemo20 You can just copy it from the TGB file to the VBA file and rename it manually. Try renaming it to .sa1 or .sa2 or .sa0

  • @ramiq27 nice it work, but now how do i change the tga save file to vba link?

    thanks for the help

  • FOR THOSE OF YOU HAVING PROBLEMS WITH LOADING THE SECOND GAME READ THE FOLLOWING: Copying & renaming the save files from VBA to TGB manually WONT WORK.

Step 1. Open the first game in VBA .

    2. Click File > Export Battery File and save it in the TGB Save File ( note that it will transferred as a .sav file)

    3. Open the second game, do the same but RENAME FROM ,SAV TO .SA2 in the export window.

Took hours to figure out :')

    i herd u liek mudkips

  • i can't get the second game (crystal) to load in the tgb, i changed the extension to sa2 but it didn't do anything, help?

  • @TheSupremePhantom how can you play on ur ds?

  • @lcg3092 Go into TGB dual and choose Options -> Folders. Here you can choose for what folder the game will load from. Make sure to choose the same folder for both ROMs and SAVE. And also make sure that your Rom and "sav"/"sa2" files are in this folder. A bit hard to explain, Idk if this was to any help. Good luck! =]

  • @barcap0wer please how did you solved it? I`m having this same problem
