in a society where female sexuality is constructed by male sexist values pole dancing will be judged ! I have been pole dancing for around six months now, it has done wonders for my confidence,it is positive and builds strength in all aspects for positive female expression

well said KT! I've not had any negativity yet, the raised eyebrows amuse rather than annoy me and I tell people how fantastic and demanding poling is as an exercise, whether performed gymnastically or with a sexy wiggle. It's a way to get fit and to express yourself all at once. Pole and be proud :o)

Well said KT. I know you work so hard for pole. You are a fantastic advocate for the sport. I know it is really difficult - you feel like you are having to constantly fight and prove what you do is valid. You are a particularly awesome example of an athlete - it's quite incredible that you personally are still fighting misconceptions....Best...X

i do pole dancing and i love it! its awesome exercise and it has built up my strength big time! I deffenetly understand the way that pole dancers are viewed! I did pole dancing in high school and forever was being called bad names just because it was one of my hobbies. so to all them ladies who want to do it, dont pay attention to all them bias people and just do what you love coz in the end thats all that matters..

I totally agree, I too am getting tired of being judged on my graceful and beautiful sport. Especially when friends or anyone comes to my house and see's my pole - the first thing they usually said is "you got a stripper pole in you lounge!".

ITS NOT A STRIPPER POLE! I don't strip! I exercise and perform gymnastic on a vertical pole - that simple.

Thank you for posting this video KT. Hopefully you can sway some people negative and forever judgmental minds.

I've been amazed at your strength on the pole, and it was great to hear you speak as well. I'd add that the more dancey aspects can't be discounted either. When people say the sexy aspects are all about men they imply that beauty only exists in relationship to men. When actually our sexuality belongs to ourselves. Any feminism should begin with this basic concept. I'm a part-time pole fitness instructor and I see the confidence it gives all sorts of women!

Hey KT! I just wanna say I am blown away by what u said. I started pole dancing recently and I found it difficult to tell family and some of my friends about it because I know they were gonna think that pole dancing is for "strippers". After watching this though I can hold my head up high and tell people that I pole dance and not give a damn if they raise their eyebrow! Well said... I've been dancing for years but I've only been pole dancing for about 3 months now and love it.. totally hooked, my upper body strength has come on so much and my teacher is only young but she is amazing. It's not slutty like people think, it's a true art form.

Ok. Hands down you are my new hero. I know exactly how you feel though I have not been pole dancing for long, only a year. I want to do more gymnastic things as well but I lack the strength right now. I feel your pain. I see pole dancing as an art form and I got so much crap for fighting for it. I have been trying to get word out for your petition as well. I just wish people would be open minded and see our views...
