@Duffylaxination3... i'm inclined to agree, i just think there probably were enough people supporting LOTRs that i didn't need to. and although there is no subplanting tolkien from the top rank of fantasy writers, i've always tended away from high fantasy to other subgenres like "weird fiction" (see: china mieville) or "steampunk" (see: cherie priest). its just a matter of taste.
