*SILENCE* Amazing medical technologies! This shows the *arthroscopic* surgery to remove torn cartilage in my left knee. The camera and light source mounted on one tube and surgical instruments on the other, while inserted behind both sides of knee cap. *OUCH*

  • Hey I am 13 years old and I just found out I'm having this surgery this tues! 3 days!! I am a dancer and it is the most important thing in my whole life! Will I ever be 100% again? I have a weird question but can I wear underwear during surgery? And dies an IV hurt?

  • @MissyFizzle sorry about this late response. I hope your surgery went very well.

Recovery is very important. Remember, you need to follow doctor's direction. Not moving too much and eat more nutritious food (no junk food). Since you are young, you'll heal a lot faster then most of us. Let me know how you are doing in a month. Oh, keep your knee away from the cold winter.

  • I am gonna have surgery on my meniscus in 2 weeks. How soon were you able to walk on your leg? How long does it take for you to be able to run? If you can tell me everything I need to know about this surgery, that would be awesome.

  • @grimmlock42

how was your surgery? sorry for this late reply. I hope you are not running yet. But you should take time to rest for complete recovery. your body will tell you when it's ready to run. it took me over a year after many trials and errors.

  • Im two weeks out of getting mine trimmed. I can bike, leg press, etc. Cant run. Only thing that really hurts is going down stairs. There's some clicking... all normal?

  • I tried not to think about the clicking noise. that reminds me of my TMJ. Yeah, it's normal. You can eliminate that by heat compress.

As your pain going down stairs, I had that before, too. I learned a very special way to land my foot - very slowly shift weight from toes to heel using my calf muscle. Learned it from a ballet dancer. ;-)

  • @jjslens what does the cold winter do to you if if you have this injury?

  • Sorry this is incredibly long, I just want to know your opinion

  • the muscle along the inner back of my knee, and I can't straighten out my knee, or bend it without being in terrible pain, and the muscle is so tight it actual restricts my movement. It's very swollen, but the doctor said that's the worst I could do is make it swollen and prolong the healing time. So do you think I could have treally messed it up, I've been walking with a limp since, because of the restriction and I get shooting pains along the side of my knee into my calf,

  • I'm 14 and I had this surgery recentley, on december 30th. I had tore it in a basketball game, when I was playing for my school. The doctor said he had never seen a tear so big in someone so young. I went back to walking sooner becuase it was beyond repair. I also went back to basketball maybe 3 weeks into my healing time, my next appointment is monday and he said I could go back to playing this following tuesday, so I went back 2 weeks early. While playing I fell on my knee and hurt

  • My surgery went well and apparently there was a hole is it disconnecting it from my ligament. My knee is very tight and I can't bend it. Should i try a little bit every day to bend it or not. I got gas b4 the IV and I am still very dizzy and nautilus. Do stitches hurt when u get them taken out? And why no junk food?

  • did they put u to sleep when they did this?

  • I haven't seen a specialist yet, but I'm sure I've torn my left knee meniscus for the third time, and I'm almost certain that my right knee has a tear, also. The second time I tore the left, the specialist, who had been practicing for 25 years at the time, said he didn't think it was torn; I assured him that it was torn. After he did the surgery, he informed me that pieces of meniscus were floating around inside the joint. I love playing basketball, but it may be time to finally give it up.
