Schumacher and Kovalainen were facing each other in the final of the Race of Champions Nation's Cup. As usual in ROC, the two cars were supposed to be racing on separate sections and never come in contact. However, things started to go strange right at the start line because Schumacher stalled it. Kovalainen raced around only to find Schumacher still sitting at the start.

From there, the two raced wheel-to-wheel, something that's not ever supposed to happen at Race of Champions. The two hammed it up, showed off for the crowd, and even did some parallel drifting after the finish.

  • Who cares about drifting anyway? The skill is in avoiding the drift, or rapidly rescuing it if you do slide.

Drifting is to motorsport what beach football is to soccer. a sideshow

  • @gnark1ll1us for the most of the time. Yes. But some places it is taken to a professional level. But like the "grand-father" of drft Keiichi Tsuchiya said. He wanted to promote it because it was fun. :) We even have freestyle extreme sports in OL now. How is drifting any different really? Not to mention tandem duel drifting? Tandem drifting is in somecases harder than races. Much more challenging IMO compared to say drag racing. Which last I checked, werent concidered a sideshow. :)

  • @greenh well said. :) The endurance part of racing is definetely not seen in drifting, i agree. And I would also agree that driving a formula 1 car on the edge, is like drifting. At drifting you keep it X amount of % above the grip level. In formula you wanna push it to 99.9% of the grip possible. So.. Agreed. :b

  • @skvakagud Yes maybe drifting one lap maybe harder than racing one lap, but they also don't drift 60+ laps in a row. I don't care for drifting but I'm not going to down drifting. I do think F1 drivers for instance have more car control than drifters.

  • this looks like mario kart in real life

  • both have very good driving skills!! (=

  • @gnark1ll1us The term "rally", as a branch of motorsport, probably dates from the first Monte Carlo Rally of January 1911.The bias ply racing tires of the 1960s-1980s lent themselves to driving styles with a high slip angle.

    I care,its fun.

  • @skvakagud And they can take right turns to in drifting..

  • @gnark1ll1us tell that to juan manuel fangio....the real godfather of drift, 5 time world champ too

  • Horrible !!!

  • @Squealward Yep, that was it. It doesn't look like much, I know.
