Introduction to my newest sewing-project: a regency-dress inspired by the works of Jane Austen.

  • Oh, I completely agree about Emma and the BBC adaptation of Sense & Sensibility. I think I don't like Emma because when I was a kid I saw the movie "Clueless", and I know it was based entirely on Emma. It turns me off the story. Another thing I disliked about the BBC's S&S was that everyone and everything was so dark and miserable. I felt like I was watching Jane Eyre.

  • @FeminaSeneca They had some pretty good actors and a solid script, but I think they were going too much for the target-audiences lust for melodrama. As evidenced by their bland ripping off of the 'Marianne falling sick due to dramatic walking in a storm being saved by Brandon' from the Emma Thompson-movie. There it made sense, the movie had to be short. In the series they could have taken the time to show that she actually falls sick because she refuses to change her wet socks.

  • I am incredibly delighted to have found your videos, my dear! I was wondering to myself whether or not I should attempt to make a Regency Era dress myself for a friend of mine as she's been wanting one for years and she turns 20 very soon. I'm not at all familiar with fabrics, sewing, and all the necessities to make a gown but I'm thinking of attempting just for her so you're definitely heaven-sent. :)

    Thank you so much!

Have you completed your dress, by the way?

  • @Persona100Duh Still working on it, I've been busy lately.

    But I'll get there eventually^^

  • I agree with your critique of all the films which I have also seen. Although, I have come to really love the Emma with Gwyneth Paltrow. When there is nothing of interest on TV, to me, I usually just watch Emma again! I do love the BBC Pride and Prejudice. You have a gorgeous smile! How fun it would be to see you play in a Jane Austen Movie! BTW, I am a grandmother, not a guy hitting on you!

  • @calliegal235 The Emma-movie is definitely better than the book in a way^^

I would be satisfied already with working on the costumes of a Jane Austen-movie hehe.
