I used the 12v molex power source video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQoCdCp1hPE

I put in a 120mm fan, 60mm fan and a 40mm fan. All of the fans are running on the 12v power source from the solder points that the power brick connects to. I don't think pulling power like this from the DVD is a good idea.

I will be adding a temp sensor later.

  • Any size of fan gets louder as you increase the voltage. On an Xbox you can run any fan on 5v or 12v. Or like my speed controller that came with the fan. I can adjust the speed.

  • Great Xbox . I got a few questions. is ur fan outputting hot air or imputing cool air. second does it matter if u put the fan underneath the xbox cover so you can put fan grill on top or if you put it sticking out (like u have) and does that have anything to do with inputting or out putting air. I plan to use a 110cfm fan to input air to my xbox and a talismoon silent fan to output the hot air through the rear which is about 136 cfm. thanks would luv to hear your insight

  • i can tell you dont now shit as the little black screws just allow you to take the mother board of so every 1 nows you have never done it also you havent done the most basic mod which is rear fan mesh hasnt been cut to free the air flow there for you can put as many fans as you want but the hot air cant get out no one listen to this noob seriously

  • @VincentBProductions Fan size doesn't really matter. It's the rpm's and voltage on a fan that makes all the noise.

  • @VincentBProductions I had a roll of it from a previous project. Thought it would look cool.

  • @VincentBProductions yeah, I eventually took those fans out and kept the 120mm on top. Those other fans didn't make much difference with the 120mm running. Temp sensor helped me figure that out.

  • I do have a question... how did you wire the extra 2 fans? I mean, not the one you did the molex connection thing on.

  • nice!!
