@dner75 Yes they did. It used to be commercially available. I've got it on CD somewhere. It's not as good as the albums though.

@dner75 at least three peel sessions I know of.. practice makes perfect, i am the fly, culture vultures, 106 beats that, the other window, a mutual friend, on returning, indirect enquiries and crazy about love ..were all recorded in the 1978 sessions ..and I have another session from 2002.. 99.9, first fast, I don't understand and spent.. apart from that I haven't a clue.

And I know this isn't Peel, but it sounds like one of his productions. Anybody know if Wire did a Peel Session?

Great live version; thanks for the up! I love post-punk, but too much is entirely over-produced. Thank God for John Peel!

Warren Fischer (Fischerspooner) was in a great math rock band from Chicago called Table in the early 90s. I think it is totally appropriate that Fischerspooner covered this song.
I love both bands.
If you can find Table's music, it's a good listen. Has a Shellac -esque quality to it.
