Another thing: I disagree with his point near the end about "one new people welded together from elements of a thousand existing peoples." What Bill's really saying there is that he believes in the Universal Brotherhood of Man. The purveyors of the salad bowl and the cultural mosaic also believe in the Brotherhood of Man, and just like Bill, they cloak that vision in the American Flag. To them, America isn't a real nation with a common blood, history, or even culture. Sad. Very sad.

I have a question for Bill and for everyone else: If everyone wants to come to America (and I'm willing to bet at least a billion people would do so in a heartbeat if given the opportunity), then do we have a moral obligation to let them in so long as they proclaim fealty to the Constitution and are calculated to be economically productive members of society? Put it another way, should there be any numerical limits whatsoever to how many immigrants we let in?

But yet during WW2 male immigrants have to include the sentence "will bear arms on behalf of the United States". So if I'm getting this right, "free from old dogmas, hatred and vendettas, and entering into new ones which is relatively less in evil" by having to agree to conscription which is both totalitarian and sexist?

You see Bill, I'm a perfectionist. I won't give anyone an inch. As well intended as you are you've missed a few spots.

Though the oath that a foreigner has to take to become a citizen wasn't always constitutional and at times may contain arbitrary elements, such as "will bear arms on behalf of the the United States" (during WW2, oh which BTW, is a sexist one), and may continue to have some arbitrary unconstitutional elements, the point that is being made in this video pales that out.

What do you not like about the logic displayed in this video?? Was it not clear enough for you?? So you think that someone who has been waiting for years following proper procedures to become a U.S citizen would be okay with some illegal immigrant just taking his/her place? You don't have to be a socialist, or communist to be nuts.. Democrat/liberal/leftist works just fine too. It is people like you who choose to live in ignorance that make this country weak.
