Each year, the University of Delaware issues its Diamond Report, an overview of UD's economic impact in Delaware and the region. The report's title is a nod to "The Diamond State," a nickname credited to Thomas Jefferson, who is said to have called Delaware "a jewel."

Delaware is a jewel, and UD helps it shine. We promote discovery, invention and innovation; we educate the next generation of highly skilled leaders; and, every day, we invest our people and our resources in state and regional prosperity. These efforts are critical components of UD's Path to Prominence.
