It should be a prerequisite for all human-beings to read the book "Nonzero".

I like the sentament. Yet, wisdom always takes time - this is not just by definition, but also by nature. The struggle has always been how to survive the mistakes of our ignorance. Is the collective culture capable of creating a safety net large enough? Or is this another ignorant mistake of merely marginalizing the losers until we loose sight of them? Are non-zero solutions an asymptotic vector re-branded to decieve a new generation of disillusion mass consumers? What is the cost of humanity?

the problem is that you dont IMPOSE interdependence. Interdependence appears naturally and in absence of ideological impositions. Each party would voluntarily come to realize this in its own. This rules out democratization, and nation building around the world through foreign policy.

That is my thinking as well: imposing a type of interdependence stiffles growth of the relationship. Is it enough to realize we have always been interdependant? How can this knowledge change our action without imposition? It seems to be a constant struggle.

This time i have to agree with him , after having first end encounter with zero sum situations , about 90% of all human interactions are zero sum scenerios , you'd be lucky if you get 10% non zero sum :(

Ah, the usual politician spiel about 'non zero-sum solutions'. I think "trickle-down economics" is along that same vein. It all makes no sense really - a zero-sum situation could well be two countries growing at a different rate: one is still the loser.

At least Clinton actually wanted to explain his ideas to people in some depth.

only if Bill Clinton wrote it for him, but then he'd probably mispronounce several words in it, too.

Countries don't exist, only people do (as far as being better or worse off). Clinton worked for the government. It's a government that doesn't operate on a non-zero sum principle. Therefore this speech is highly ironic. He acts like he's a principled libertarian, even though he's the opposite.

That is why he was a successful politician: he can *act* like no other.
