Manolis Kalomiris composed 5 Preludes in this set. I'm lifting this off of my "Greek Rapture" disc.
Kalomiris was born in Smyrna/Izmir in 1883 and died in Athens in 1962. He's considered the Godfather of post-Ottoman Greek Classical Music. He founded 2 music conservatories, championed the Demotic use of the Greek Language (everyday use) and wrote a ton of music.

I love the Germanic/Romantic verve combined with the Greek modes in this Prelude.

  • What genre is this? This is really dark and I want to learn how to play like this. Is all romantic music like this?

  • @9oclockrushbassist

yes, late romantic genre - even though it was composed in 1939.

no, not all romantic music is like this.....only the stuff I'm drawn to. :-)
