@JHollowayNetwork They were still using BBC COLOUR when showing replays of the following year's Cricket World Cup. Mind you 1978 was the year that the BBC went fully went into colour when the BBC Bangor Film Unit finally went into colour.

Robert Robinson is still with us, and has only very recently retired as host of " Brain of Britain" on BBC Radio 4.

We didn't always animate the symbol. It was generally done over silence so the junction would therefore be longer. It you didn't want to hang around, you wouldn't animate.

I dare say it's no less exciting than Gardener's Question on Radio 4... which, er, isn't very exciting. (Me who wished there was more amusing stuff on Radio 4 on Sunday afternoons to while away the time at uni.)
Of course for keen gardeners it's a different story...
