yes, it was touching and brilliantly understated scene. Simply unforgettable. One other anecdote about this terrific film --- and perhaps Heston's finest performance ---- is the scene when the boy Horace goes over to hug Will. Horace was actually the Director's (Tom Gries) son in real life and when they did the first take, he actually began crying. It was so moving that Gries left it in. Wise choice if you ask me.
