I received a phone call from the school at 8:35 am, before I could even make it to work because the school said my son's hair was an un-naturual hair color. Help me out here! Isn't the base word of natural nature? In nature there are many colors, e.g. pink, red, blue, etc. Now it is becoming a harassing issue. No other students have been targeted (to my knowledge). My son is an Irish Jamaican/Black and the principal is White. The White students are not being told to stop going to the salon getting their hair dyed, so why should my son stop?

  • That's crazy my hair was pitch black when I was a baby with a full head of hair, but when I got older my hair turned to a red, brown, orange, gold, color all over in several areas and people could tell it was natural highlights. My daughter is the same way, but my son is a complete redhead and I would have to kill someone for starting to think about saying something. It's such a big deal that his father kept cutting it out of jealousy and I won't let him see my son anymore.

  • even the news reporter said that his hair was the same color as hers, and that her hair was NOT dyed.

regardless, what the heck does the color have to do with Math, English, etc. Oh, I am not finished!!!!

And what am I to do when we go to the beach and his hair naturally changes to the blond color it does? ya know!

  • i know this video was a while ago ... what ended up happening with this issue? is it still a problem or has it been solved? that is just ridiculous ...

  • The lawsuit is still pending. We need your prayers.

  • hmm, pure ignorance.

  • Hello, I was wondering what became of this? What they asked you/your son to do was wrong. I hope you took them to court and won... although alot of the judges are twisted and crooked :-/

  • I'm surprised they didn't make you cut it.

  • everyone has the right to have there hair what ever color they want!!!! people talk smack to me cuz im white with dreads and i have alot of piercings/tatts, and crazy hair color. i stand up for my rights to look how i want to. and you should too!

  • his hair does not look unnatural.....why would they have to be black? what if you have a sandy brown color? you cant do anything about it. dumb school.

  • ARE YOU SERIOUS?????!!!!!!!! the school was totally wrong!!!! why does it matter if his hair is dyed or not?? what was the basis of them asking you to color your son's hair black? was it a distraction? did it cause anyone else any kind of harm? i think not!! they would definitely hear from my lawyer!!!!!

  • Lol this is why I avoid white people and only deal with them when I have to
