Your probably right about his dislike of some of the songs he recorded, especially the novelties. He did not like "Don't like the stars......" as I read, because of the many key changes. He was a crooner who liked ballards or love songs "Solo Tu", "No Other Love",
"It's Impossible" and so on. He was confused about the publics call for the novelty, but music changed in the 50's and I guess he had to stay in business. He was always my favorite of the crooners.

According to his daughter in an interview after his death she said the trip to Ireland took it's toll on him and he got ill. I think she made the trip with him. He was in his 70's then.
