@arbayer2: For all relevant uses, you could say that Minecraft uses voxels. Technically speaking, it actually uses poxels, which is when you use polygons to mimic the effect of voxels, which is mostly done for the benefit of hardware rendering, though in Minecraft's case it was also for putting textures on the blocks and to save the trouble of writing octrees in Java.
