Cheri Movie Trailer

Michelle Pfeiffer and Kathy Bates bring us the story of a love that can no longer be, and the pain and triumph that happens afterward in Cheri, brought to us in limited release June 26th.

In Paris in the 1920s, the son of a professional courtesan finds himself bereft after forced to end the relationship with his first love, a much older woman who taught him all she knew of love. He's not taking it well, so he ends up retreating into a fantasy world of his own making. Check out the trailer.

It's strange to see a movie so clearly push for Oscar gold in the height of summer movie season--there's no way Cheri's going to last even five minutes against stuff like Transformers 2--so it's enough to make one sit up and take notice. The movie was amazing..except one thing: Rupert Friend. I'm really sorry to all of you out there who liked him in the movie, but for me, he ruined it. Completely. Why? Not that he is not a good actor or anything like that, but his "chemistry" with the talented Michelle Pfeiffer was disastous. They looked like a diva and a junkie. Really bad casting. Couldn't they found someone like Jude Law? He would have been more suitable(and matchable).
