1 hour to London about 1 1/2 hours to Bournemouth, Can be in the country side in about 15 minutes from the centre. Ox used to pull carts over a ford in the middle ages and the city was call Oxenford, later shortened to Oxford. Also in the middle ages there was a wall surrounding the city, to keep at bay the raiding armies.
