I wanted to make a stabilzer for my zi8 and I stumbled upon Protodojo's flip float , thanks by the way . It's based on his design, small enough to keep in my backpack. It's my first test and still a work in progress.

  • Hello! What did you use for your handle? I've noticed a lot of others using a flash light but this handle looks a bit better.

  • @stabadie1 It's a flash light too, but I just covered it with a foam grip.

  • I ended up using the traxxas villain u joint , it's easier to mount than the 5151

  • Very cool. Seems to flow nicer than the Zi8 can manage by itself. I made a stabilizer for my Zi8 as well, but it's a REAL basic pipe/weight job, and the T-pipe connector's a little crooked and it's only 10 pound weights on it for now, so instead of bouncing, it sways, lol. I'm gonna look up this Protodojo's flip float now.

  • Good job! Which U-joint / ball socket did you end up using? I see you used a bar to stabilize the vertex bend from the vibrating effect caused the counterweight being on the end of the lower "arc". Nice.
