The same people would have signed it even if it said screw the environment. Petitions are nonsense, people know that, and sign them to be polite. If one group got a thousand people to ban water and another group only got one hundred, all that would show is that one group was better at getting around and asking more people than the other group. It would reflect nothing of the actual issue. The scary part would be if you showed this to the dean and he actually did something.
