Did you shift early or something in second? I can get super close to 60 in second gear which gives you a 6.5 or so. But I do have an 06, nice car man.

Car and Driver tested the RSX type S twice, 0-60mph times were 6.2 and 6.4 seconds for those tests. I'd be interested in seeing the 97 chevy pickup that puts up those numbers stock.
