Chris from the Caddis Fly Shop shows you how to tie an easy elk hair caddis fly. This pattern is a standard on most Western rivers and yellow seems to be a really important color in the early summer. Check out www.OregonFlyFishingBlog.com for more fly tying tips and videos.
what kind of hackle are you using?

@dirtTdude Well it worked in my creek so tell me how it goes for you.

@Eddie35519 might be a thought... the hackle is typically simulating a bug that is flapping its wings in an atempt to break the surface tension of the water to make flight... so, what i'm thinking is that if you had overcast skies on a bright day with cloudy or murky water, black hackle might just be the ticket otherwise a fish probably can't see a light grey or tan hackle. I'm going to try it.

Very smart, very efficient. Especially the thread rib part. I would've used fine gold wire or tinsel. I've gotta try this technique soon.
