This is a commissioned 2' X 2' rolling ball sculpture. This marble run has three tracks, and two track splitters. 1 inch glass marbles, and all welded stainless steel. The marbles are lifted with a helical spiral. Sculpture completed Feb 2007

This video shows both of the marble collector tracks going at the same time. One tips with 7 marbles - the other with 8. Because they tip with a different # of marbles, their timing will always be changing relative to each other. Sometimes at the same time, and sometimes all by themselves.

  • Is there any way to make these into perpetual movement machines? Self-reloading?

  • @xloserx4xchristx "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction" - so due to friction that would be impossible. More specifically, Perpetual Machines are impossible - there is ALWAYS friction.

  • It looks like a navy fence

  • a navy fence? that's a totally new comparison.... :The navy must have some complicated fences...!

  • I didn't see where the heck ewverything was going I was to amused by the lines everywhere XD but really, WOOOW

  • @motleymdg Nothing's impossible.

  • I saw 1 pixel....

  • @motleymdg imagine if one day we would have the tech to make something with no friction.....imagine the possibilities.

  • @xloserx4xchristx It is possible to get very very close with an extremely crafty application of magnetism.

  • @xloserx4xchristx acutally, it might be possible, but it would have to either be in someones inceptational dream, or go around the world.

  • I Would hang this on my wall for sure

  • Cool.

  • Dude u should be making some serious gumball machines
