5/21/2007. The US Army Corps of Engineers has a new commander. The Senate confirmed Lieutenant General Robert L. Van Antwerp as the 52nd Chief of Engineers. Lt. Gen. Carl A. Stock relinquished command in a ceremony. Army Cheif of Staff Gen. Casey hosted ceremonies where the old guard and the Army Band paid tribute to Gen. Strocks 36 year career. Gen. Van Antwerp now commands more then 34 thousand civilians and 85 thousand active, Guard, and Reserve Soldiers that make up the Army Corps of Engineers.
