I think the scientific/academic communities are tightly controlled by powers that don't want us to know whats going on.They lock up technologies that would free us of the power grid,and other rudimentary systems they bleed us with.Once we got beyond these systems it wouldn't be long before we got beyond them.Then they'd have to get jobs and have less time trying to figure out how to kill people and weave webs of chaos and corruption.Life would suddenly become very boring and mundane for them
