Thanks sapodedo for the history of thrums . This is fascinating !! Thanks Nancy for having this forum so we learn a new nifty craft !!!!

It's my understanding that thrumming started in Iceland (or some other northern cold country) and there was a wool carpet factory nearby and they had little pieces (thrums) of wool left over, so the local knitters decided to try using them and wahlah! Apparently, one can thrum most anything--leg warmers, tops of socks, hats, slippers and etc. Although, now we have to make our own thrums from roving. Good luck!

I wonder, too, where people come up with these ideas! I'm going to do it to the slippers I already have lying around the house I think!

Very interesting technique. Can't wait to try it! I love the reddish/pinkish sweater the demonstrator was wearing. Can you provide me with the info regarding pattern and yarn used...where I could get them?
