Monday 23 May 2011 saw train operating company East Coast introduce its enhanced timetable. This included a 4-hour journey from Edinburgh to London calling only once at Newcastle. In light of this record-beating journey time, an equally prestigious title was bestowed the train that is to regularly work the journey - the Flying Scotsman, synonymous with Anglo-Scottish train journeys along the East Coast Main Line.
The video records the Flying Scotsman's first arrival on 23 May 2011; it did so just 2 minutes late, at 0942. A slight delay north of Grantham was to blame. DVT 82205 leads with 91101 providing the power at the rear.
I stood a distance from where I knew the train would arrive to capture more of each carriage, but it did mean having to use considerable zoom and my new camera's auto focus can be seen in evidence.
@c3gfboy7 No, the service is the Flying Scotsman, after the old runs north of the border by the LNER/BR.

@JTERoyalScotsGrey22 - True, but even better if it had been an A4 !

Even better if it had been a Deltic bringing the train in to Kings Cross like the good old days.

Nice footage, but I prefer the silver livery personally.
I think it would have looked better if the text was slightly smaller and lower down, and the door grab rails weren't silver and they got rid of the pinky purple stripe.
The flying logos on the nose ends are a nice touch but don't really suit the loco if I'm honest.
