Khanna, a Senior Research Fellow at the New America Foundation, advises the next president to abolish the Bureau of Public Affairs and Public Diplomacy in the State Department and to replace it with a Bureau of Multi-American Affairs. This bureau would bring together leaders of corporations, NGOs, and other civil society groups to help solve the specific challenges that America is seeking to address in world, such as climate change, post-conflict reconstruction, poverty alleviation, and public health. This will allow us to think of American foreign policy not as something that only government does, but what American society as a whole can contribute.
