Peak oil may possibly cause a catastrophic collapse of the global economy. Is this likely to happen? I hope not. Is it worth preparing against?
Do you have insurance to protect your property from theft or fire? If "yes", then the grim possibilities of peak oil are also worth preparing for.
Teacher Aaron Wissner describes things individuals can do to provide a bit of insurance for themselves.
Learning to grow some food, getting to know and learn with neighbors and community, stocking up for an unlikely but possible emergency in much the same way as for a natural disaster: there are many things that can be done to provide a bit of peak oil doomsday disaster insurance.
Failing to plan is planning to fail.
Be prepared, for peak oil.
Tell me (us) more about Your local group, and what You are doing personally to prepare. I have my own plans, and will be starting a Youtube series that follows my progress. I would like to see other folks progress as well. We may pick up ideas from each other!

Sure, you can visit LocalFuture [dot] org to see what we've done in Middleville and with the International Conference.
My personal blog is ValueSystem [dot] LiveJournal [dot] com. It details all of my preparations, both personal and organizational.

It sounds like you "KNOW" in your heart bad things are about to happen. We have a nice little garden behind our house too. Hopefully it doesn't get raided when stuff hits the fan! If you're in big cities LEAVE! That's where it will really get bad.

Well, I certainly don't "know" for sure, but I definitely would not at all be surprised. Right now, I'm doing things that my grandparents used to do, as far as personal preparation.
I haven't taken the leap to seperate myself from the economy and don't have any plans to do so.
