@wajsyed Precisely this. I actually have this exact setup - I have a MacBook for portability and a desktop PC for my gaming and other processor-intensive stuff.

Still expensive for a student. My necessities are not that of a Student but my Macbook Pro has reached the $3,000 range easily, in todays times in part of a Recession it is EXPENSIVE!

It's because it was fresh and it would be slower than 2009 for a while.

Yeah the new i5 and i7 processors are amazing, specially the i7 with the 8 core hypertherding plus the 8-9 hours of battery life and the auto switchable GPUs is really nice on the 15" MacBook pro. I think for portable computing no one can really match the MacBooks. I believe for the desktop space windows pc's have alot more value for the $, but for laptops MacBooks are the better choice for know. Thank for your comment sir!

By the way balvonzo brought up a important point; flash video is not only a battery killer but it brings up the core temps to over 70 degress. So it's hard to watch flash video for prolonged periods of time without burning your lap!!
