@jdhiner1 That's like having a Ferrari and not driving it. What's the use? Yes, I know there are only three left...

@jdhiner1 Any aircraft in a museum is just an aircraft waiting to fly again. Most people that work with military aircraft know that there should really only be one end to an aircrafts flying career.. And that's in a heaping pile of rubble with the pilot laughing and floating down to earth under his parachute..

@jdhiner1 There exists Corsairs in museums. To be brutally honest, the F2G was a foot note in the Corsair's history.
-
This is by far my favorite aircraft EVER!!! a question of mine is what if a person latched ahold of a normal corsair and somehow found an operational engine from a F2G, could one modify it to accomodate the larger engine?

Magnificent Beast

No. Better to see and hear what the ultimate version of the Corsair was really like.
-
@warbirdfotos yeah, after all, you don't fly it, it gets sad, and it gets sick, seals start drying up and hardening, components seize and if rust sets in you're screwed
-
That aircraft was built to run. Not historically significant during WW2. Too late to fight but perfect for racing. I say let em eat!....Would love to see a Super in action.

@jdhiner1 So we should just let it rot in a museum instead huh?
shouldnt be racing that thing one of only a few original f2g's that survive today
