Olympic Games London Wembley 1948 -- historical clips of some the women events, the discus, shot-put, high-jump, track and relay. The original film was a 35mm reel which was among our family films, and one of the many which we watched as part of our regular weekend's entertainment as children. Having researched some of its history to find out the year of the games, and some of the competitors I also discovered that at these same games Alice Coachman became the first black woman to win a Gold Medal in any sport. Although she has not been captured jumping on this film, I felt that her achievement was worthy a mention in the light of the subject of my family- history-stories website.
