After Mojo knew Shatterstar will be the one to kill him in the future, the tv-ratings magnate decided to kill him first. Mojo almost succeeded! Rictor, as Star's bestfriend dreaded that day when he came back to the team just to see his pal die. Longshot, with Cable & Siryn transferred Shatty's essence into the comatose young mutant Benjamin Russel! so basically, Shatterstar is both Gaveedra and Benjamin Russel

Benjamin "RusseLL" was a totally separate physical body than Shatterstar before all of this. They only share a body now, so it's not really as simple as saying Shatterstar IS Benjamin Russell. The only way that can be possible is if the time travel made this a paradox...but even still that hasn't been revealed (nor does that make sense). So it's hard to say.

Shatterstar, a warrior-born defender of the people under the tyrany of Mojo in Mojoverse several years in the future of the x-man Longshot's future. Originally, his real name is Gaveedra, a descendant of Longshot & Dazzler.
