This excerpt from the film Trip to Asia gives an impression of the last concert given by the Berliner Philharmoniker in Taiwan in 2005

The Berliner Philharmoniker associate Taiwan with one of the most moving experiences in their recent history. In November 2005, tens of thousands of people came together on two evenings in the square in front of Chiang Kai-Shek Cultural Center, where the Berliner Philharmoniker and Simon Rattle performed works by Beethoven, Richard Strauss and Thomas Adès. After the concert, the musicians were celebrated like pop stars by the enthusiastic crowd. "Of course we will come back to Taiwan," Simon Rattle said at the time. This promise will now be kept -- with two concerts, which will be shown at six public screenings in four Taiwan cities before an expected crowd of some 70,000.
