XRs can be had and had fun with on the cheap. 40bob has the best inexpensive headers and everything else comes from the junkyard. Ive been pretty lazy with mine for a long time but She will prowl the road soon.... I have an impreza also BTW.

Xrs are not hard or expensive to maintain. You can get the parts you need from a shitload of fords.

@crayvon Man you better have some money to fix it up! Parts are expensive and hard to find. I had one years ago seemed like one thing after another was going wrong with it . Prepare to put a new head gasket on it, but otherwise I still loved that car, There were about four or five us friends that had one back then.
