Red Army commanders lacked the tactical skills, training, and perhaps above all, the communication systems, to maintain continuous fronts. Although after Stalin's death his role as warlord was considerable diminished, his successors (e.g Putin) nurtured all the other legends of "The Great Patriotic War".

What russians don't want to see is the fact that so called "mighty red army" was actually just a bunch of shabby lowtrained soldiers commanded by unskillfull officers.
